For :iconthe-blue-tides:

Basic Information

Name: Shadesoul
Age: 20 moons (born on the 19th of January)
Gender: She-cat
Breed: Mixed longhair
Clan: Skyclan
Rank: Medicine Cat

Sexual orientation:
Shadesoul is straight, not that she ever really thinks she'll get to do anything about her preference for certain traits in toms.

For those who like to tempt fate, Shadesoul likes:
-Strength, both physical and emotional
-Quirky personality
-Someone who knows how to have fun

Personality:

{Shy}
Shadesoul is shy around cats that she doesn't know well. She stutters when other cats speak to her, especially when they are from another clan. She has confidence in her job, but not with relating to large groups of cats, generally more than three. This is especially obvious with cats of other clans, who do not share her position as a Medicine Cat. This also happens with cats in her own clan, but only with cats that she doesn't know well. She overcomes her shyness with her dedication to her work, and her ability to relate and sympathize with other cats. She uses her position like a shield against her shyness.

{Compassionate}
Shadesoul goes out of her way to not only try to heal other cats physical wounds, but their emotional ones as well. She is well known as a good she-cat to talk to about sensitive situations with. She is trustworthy, and has never broken her word to keep confidences. This causes others to trust her, and come to her with their problems and issues. But she doesn't always wait for someone to come to her. She seems to have some kind of radar for those who are hurting, and will approach someone even if she feels shy to try to help.

{Loyal}
Shadesoul is very loyal to her clan, and cats that she considers family. This extends to the other Medicine Cats and others that she goes out of her way to include in who she considers family. Nothing, not even the threat of death, could make her change her loyalty. Only threatening the lives of kits in her, or honestly, any other clan could make her change her loyalty momentarily. But beware, for once those who manipulated her into that kind of situation will feel her teeth and claws once she has an opportunity to tear the fur out of them. And tear she will.

{Protective}
Because she has part of the training of a Warrior, Shadesoul feels very protective of those in her clan. She also extends this to cats in her care. She doesn't have delusions of grandeur, or any desire to fight, but is more than willing to do so if necessary. Extreme situations aside, her normal protective behavior is generally limited to those who submit themselves to her care, and to some extent those in her clan. Shadesoul feels that it is her responsibility to protect those who live in Skyclan's camp.

{Responsible}
Shadesoul takes her duties very seriously. She doesn't fool around like other cats might have the luxury to do occasionally. She always has to stay on task so she can make sure that things don't go wrong. She takes every injury to her clanmates personally, and works hard to be better than anyone else. She doesn't do this because she wants to show others up, but because she wants to do her best for those in her care. This drives her desire to be the most responsible she-cat that she can be.

{Stubborn}
Shadesoul is very stubborn. Once she gets an idea into her head it takes StarClan to pry it out. Or at least that's what her family says. This stubborn streak leads her to get into trouble, and rarely gets her out of it.

Physical Discription:

(Because my drawings of felines leave a lot to be desired.)
Shadesoul is a blue grey mottled tabby with long silky fur. She keeps it very clean, dispite the fact that her job, her responsibility, keeps her dealing with dirt and plants. She has white markings over her nose and her left forepaw that are not true white, but close enough. The white meets in a color like marking just above her sholders. The white covers her belly as well, and it tips her tail. The blueish grey mottling on her fur is partially obscured by tabby like stripes lighter than the rest of her fur. The fur around her eyes is darker than the rest of her fur, only lighter than her headfur. She has a dark, almost black piece of longer fur that flows allong the right side of her face. Shadesoul's eyes are light blue, and piercing

Brief Backstory:

(It's not exactly short...sorry....)

Shadekit was born to Russetfur and Blacknose, along with two toms. Both of her brothers were bigger and stronger than Shadekit, but she was faster. Most of their mock fights ended with her being pinned beneath Pinekit and Leafkit. She vowed that when she became an Apprentice she would get her revenge and outshine her brothers.

Shadepaw was apprenticed to Mudtail at the age of six moons, and was a very enthusiastic Apprentice. She learned how to hunt quicker than her siblings, and was proud every time she came back to camp with a catch for the elders. She was also more responsible than her brothers, and was quick to gain the respect of her mentor's peers, or as much respect as she really could, being her age. Shadepaw had many adventures as an apprentice. Her mentor, Mudtail, always found ways to challenge the young apprentice. She was very eager to learn, and Mudtail was pleasantly surprised with her desire to learn.

Shadepaw was about eight moons old when she was out hunting one day with Pinepaw and Leafpaw and they were cornered by some rogue cats who really disliked the Skyclan for some reason. The two toms fought with the hearts of lions, but Shadepaw managed to get separated from them. She was cornered and had no where to go and the rogue swiped at her face, slashing across, somehow missing her eyes. Russetfur, her mother, heard the fight and lead the others who were on patrol to assist the Apprentices, and luckily none were killed. Shadepaw however, was fairly badly hurt. Her face was in pieces.

Pinepaw became Pinefur and Leafpaw became Leaftail, but Shadepaw stayed in the Medicine Cat's den, nursing her face. By the time her face healed, her brothers were Warriors, and her mentor had been given another apprentice to teach. Though she could still see and hear as well as any other cat, Shadepaw was no longer able to become a warrior. She wasn't as strong as she had been before the attack, and since then she had realized that she would never again gain the strength that a Warrior needed. Besides, she had developed a decent knowledge of the herbs in the Medicine Cat's den during her stay. She was leaning toward asking Birdsong to allow her to become her apprentice, but she still wanted to be a Warrior. She wanted to have recognition in her clan, and through her father's influence had always thought that being a Warrior was the only way to make her father happy, but now she wasn't so sure that was the right thing to do. The thing that sealed her decision to ask Birdsong, the Medicine Cat, if she could be his apprentice, was a dream. One of Starclan spoke to her as she dreamed that she was stalking a bird in one of her favorite trees. They spoke of using her heart rather than her claws to serve her clan. The next morning she spoke to Birdsong, who spoke to the leader of the clan. It was decided. Shadepaw would be apprenticed to Birdsong at the age of eight moons.

It wasn't long before Shadepaw was put to work learning herbs and what was good for healing certain things. She applied the same effort to this learning as she had to her Warrior training. It was not long before she was treating Pinefur and Leaftail as well. Birdsong waited just a bit before asking the clan leader if they would give Shadepaw her name. Shadesoul was chosen by Birdsong. The entire reason remains a mystery, but part of it was credited to Shadesoul's compassion for other cats. After she was given her name, she and her mentor made the journey to share tongues with Starclan. She became a Medicine Cat around the age of 1 year.

On the way back to the clan's territory, they were attacked by a pair of foxes. Shadesoul pinned her ears back as the older Birdsong made a dash for a nearby tree. The foxes circled around the long haired blue-grey she-cat, and just as they tensed to spring, she leaped out of the way. After a few feints, Shadesoul dashed up the trunk of a tree. Unfortunately Birdsong hadn't gotten far enough up the tree to be out of reach. The male fox made a running leap and tore Birdsong from the trunk of his tree, and the pair of foxes tore him apart. Shadesoul could smell the fear, and she stayed in the trees until well after the foxes had gone on to other prey. She did not touch what was left of her mentor, but rather turned her eyes to the stars. She knew that Birdsong was with Starclan. Then and there she vowed to protect her clan in every way she knew how. With a heavy heart and heavy paws she carried the news back to her clan. The clan took the news of Birdsong's death hard, as he had been well liked, but things changed, and time healed the grief. Or healed it enough that Shadesoul could continue on with her job without the constant almost debilitating pangs of guilt that wracked her after her mentor, and very good friend's death. She doesn't blame herself, but the guilt is still there. She is, well, still the quiet cat she always has been, but has much more confidence in her abilities, not out of knowledge, but coming from the fact that she has to. She is the Medicine Cat of her Clan. She strives to live up to that responsibility.

Family:

Mother: Russetfur (alive)
Father: Blacknose (alive)
Siblings:
Pinefur (alive)
Leaftail (alive)
Relationships: Birdsong was like a second father to her. She was very sad when he died.
Russetfur fusses over her when given the chance. Shadesoul doesn't always appreciate the fussing, but she loves her mother.
Blacknose is secretly very proud of Shadesoul, but treats her with disdain. She believes that he thinks she should have become a Warrior like her brothers. She is sad that she disappointed him.
Pinefur and Leaftail enjoy tormenting their sister as much as they are able to. Shadesoul in turn, torments them as well, but only when appropriate. Unlike them she has a sense of dignity.

I don't really like doing romantic stuff, and I don't like doing stuff above a pg 13 rating unless there's a reason for it.

Platforms I'm willing to use:
Notes (I actually have an account for this so I don't loose stuff)
Comments (not particularly fond of this method, but still, willing)

(Interaction.)

Shadesoul started organizing her herbs for the third time that day. Two of the apprentices had been in with requests for mouse bile so they could treat the elders, and neither had been careful with their tails. Shadesoul sighed. She remembered being that young. Her supplies were getting low, and so she decided to go wandering to find more. She liked the word wandering rather than gathering herbs. It fit her state of mind at the moment better. As she left her den she noticed one of the kits playing with a ball of moss outside the nursery. She recognized the kit as Snowkit, and padded over easily to speak to the young one. “Little one, where is your mother?” She meowed as she retrieved the ball of moss from it's resting place out of reach of the tiny kit.

Snowkit batted at the ball and made a squeak of dismay as it landed out of his reach. When he heard the voice of Shadesoul, the Medicine Cat, he froze. He wasn't suppose to be out of the nursery, but had snuck out to play while his mother and brother were sleeping. “She...she said I could come out and play.” He hoped the lie would get him out of trouble.

Shadesoul listened and shook her head at his answer. She had been hoping that he wouldn't try to lie, but knew most kits did. She easily batted the fluffy ball of moss back into the nursery. “Snowkit, you need to obey your mother. Don't you want to be a Warrior someday?” Ignoring the kit's halfhearted protests she nudged him back to the nursery and into a place beside his mother. Those words she had said haunted her. They were the same ones that her father had spoken to her when she had been caught playing while her brothers and mother were sleeping. A pang of guilt ran through her stomach. She hadn't become a Warrior. She had become a Medicine Cat. She shook her ears, trying to rid herself of the feelings of guilt as she padded toward the camp entrance. She needed more herbs, plants, and other things for her stores, and they would not collect themselves.

(Open ended; something posted with the intention of starting an rp with someone. )

Shadesoul padded though the forest floor, alone. She had decided to gather more catnip and moss and a few other herbs that afternoon, and her mottled grey and blue coat helped her blend into the shadows around the underbrush. She glanced around, and saw some white daisies growing in a patch of grass currently illuminated by sunlight. Her blue eyes sparkled as she padded over to them, starting to purr softly. She sat in the sunlight and licked her white fore paw and washed the left side of her face. She thought back to when she earned her name, and smiled. Birdsong had been so proud. A pang of sadness clenched in her heart momentarily. It had been on a warm day like this one that she had been called to the front of the Clan and given her name. How she missed her mentor. She flicked her ears backward, betraying her sadness. After a few moments, she flicked her ears forward, and begins to continue on her task, enjoying the warmth that her coat held from the sunlight. She broke into a slow trot through the leaves, not disturbing them at all, and barely making any noise, not aware that there could be others in the forest.
